A new way of opening to keep everyone safe

We’ve had to take to the driving seat and make a few changes to our museum.
We're working in a COVID-secure manner for the safety of our visitors and staff:

Timed Entry
Please pre-book your entry online here
We will be allowing families and those in social bubbles to enter the museum together, every 15 minutes.
Maximum of 6 people per group/bubble as per current UK law. Please adhere to the travel guidance for the local restriction tier in which you reside.

On Arrival
Our reception staff will still be on hand to greet you, however from behind a screen, please have your e-mail booking confirmation, ready to show the staff .
You can show this on a print-out or on your mobile phone.
Please only arrive 5 minutes before your booked time slot.

Keep your Distance
To maintain social distancing, we will be asking all visitors to adhere to 2m social distancing , throughout the museum, on entry to the museum and in the cafe and gift shop

Face Coverings
Under UK law, it became compulsory to wear face coverings in all areas of our building. 😷
Sealed masks may be bought from the museum reception for £2 for two masks.

One Way
We have introduced a One Way route through the museum, and are asking visitors to adhere to this at all times, no U-Turns and no reversing.

Passing Places
We have introduced passing places that allow families to overtake those wishing to spend time or park at an exhibit. These passing places allow a safe 2m distance to overtake.

Traffic Lights
We have installed traffic lights in some areas, where passing would be at less than 2m. These will give the green light when visitors can pads safely at a 2-metre distance. Please adhere to the green and red lights.

Interactive Exhibits
Some of our interactive exhibits will be ‘hands-off’ and closed at this time.

Enhanced Cleaning
Our Museum and exhibits will be cleaner and shinier than ever with enhanced cleaning from our staff.
We will provide hand sanitising stations on entry and throughout the museum and our staff will be keeping a safe distance from you at all times.

Gift Shop
Our gift shop will be open, however we will ask that you only touch what you intend to buy and that where possible, use contact-less payment for purchases.

No Shuttle Bus
We are no longer selling combined tickets with Windermere Lake Cruises and the FREE shuttle bus to/from Lakeside Pier is not operating.
Thanks for your understanding and we hope you enjoy your visit.
