This year will be especially busy with a host of events adding to the traditional big three Classic Drive and Ride in Days. They take place on April 2nd, October 1st and Boxing Day when proud owners display their classic cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles at the museum.

Our car park is often filled with classic motors as its location, on the A590, is a perfect gathering point and a much-loved destination for car clubs from around the country.

The first Saturday every month sees the Lakeland Historic Car Club hold its monthly meeting - the next one is this Saturday, April 2nd between 10am till 12 noon. The club was established in 1981 to encourage the preservation and use of historic vehicles.

SUPER SATURDAY 2 APRIL will be a busy day as alongside the Classic Drive and Ride in Day and The Lakeland Historic Car Club we will also be joined by Jaguars in The Lakes -classic Jags on tour from members of jaguarforum.com

Further events in April include gatherings by the Mersey Mini Club on April 3rd, the Lotus Drivers Club on April 10th and on Sunday April 24th it's the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Club's Drive It Day.

All these events offer an added attraction to the already extensive collection of vehicles and auto memorabilia inside the museum itself.

As the year progresses there'll be further club gatherings and not just cars. May 22nd sees the ABF The Soldiers Charity motorcycle event between 10.30am and 4pm.

Other events through the summer include gatherings by the Lotus Drivers Club, Citroen Traction Avant Owner's Club, Vauxhall VX220 and Toyota MR2 clubs.

At the Classic Drive and Ride in Days a prestigious trophy is up for grabs for the most impressive classic vehicle on display. Those Ride in Days are open to owners of classic cars, trucks, vans and motorbikes, as well as more recent hot hatches, superminis and high-performance sports cars. There is no need to book.

You don't have to own a classic vehicle to attend, just simply pop along and join in the fun.
