Lakeland Motor Museum recognised at Cumbria Tourism Awards

We are delighted to announce that Lakeland Motor Museum has been recognised with a Highly Commended award in the Small Attraction of the Year category at the annual Cumbria Tourism Awards.
The award is particularly special as it comes in one of the most competitive categories, recognising attractions that deliver truly memorable visitor experiences. It reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team in creating an engaging, welcoming and accessible destination for all.
Home to more than 30,000 exhibits, Lakeland Motor Museum showcases an extensive collection of classic and vintage vehicles, together with a fascinating range of motoring memorabilia. Visitors can explore the renowned Campbell Bluebird Exhibition, which tells the story of the Campbell family’s world record-breaking achievements, while motorcycle enthusiasts can enjoy our dedicated Isle of Man TT display. Younger visitors are equally well catered for with our collection of toy motorcars and pedal cars.
The judges praised our commitment to excellence across all areas of the museum, including our continued focus on accessibility and inclusivity for visitors with disabilities. The awards also recognise businesses that make a positive contribution to the environment, local community and the wider visitor economy.
Chris Lowe, Museum Curator, said:
"We don’t just see ourselves as a visitor attraction – we’re also a place where like-minded enthusiasts can come together and share their passion for motoring. Most weekends we host free car club meetings, attracting hundreds of people from across Cumbria and beyond. These gatherings have helped create lasting friendships and built a real sense of community.
"I believe it’s this community engagement, combined with our commitment to ensuring every visitor feels welcome, that has contributed to this recognition. From hearing loops and lift access to children’s quiz sheets and our dog-friendly approach, we work hard to make sure everyone can enjoy their visit."
Open all year round, Lakeland Motor Museum also features an on-site café and gift shop, making it a great day out for visitors of all ages. As part of our summer offer, we are passing on the VAT reduction through our admission prices, meaning adults pay just £11.60 and children £6.90. These discounted rates are available until 1 September 2026.
