The proud owner of a 1977 De Tomaso Pantera GTS received a new award as part of a ‘Drive and Ride In Day’ which saw classic cars and motorbikes gather at the Lakeland Motor Museum on Sunday 10 September.

The event attracted a diverse display of classic and vintage vehicles spanning much of the 20th century, as well as a range of more recent sports and performance cars.

Bill Whiteside was given the honour of receiving a special ‘Chairman’s Trophy’ for his pristine 1977 De Tomaso Pantera GTS, featuring a 5.7 litre Ford V8 engine. The right hand drive 1977 original UK DeTomaso Pantera GTS is a very rare car in the UK, and has an interesting story of how Ford was responsible for its creation.

The winner was chosen by Museum Director Bill Bewley, who is well-known as a passionate motoring enthusiast and judge of vintage motorcycles. He is also Chairman of the Museum’s parent company, Winander Group Holdings, and has a detailed knowledge of transport heritage dating back many decades.

The sound of the De Tomaso on the Drive In day was amazing, here's a clip of a similar vehicle's engine.
