There are questions about fire engines, hot air balloons and bubble cars to name just a few so it’s an ideal way to spend a morning or afternoon combining fun with an educational day out.

The Museum Quiz involves 23 clues, questions and directions which send youngsters on an adventure around the Backbarrow attraction – and a small gift is given to every child who attempts the challenge.

Curator at the Lakeland Motor Museum Chris Lowe says: “We always find the quiz goes down really well with children and grown-ups alike, because they’re having fun while learning.

“They’ll find out all about scooters, weighing scales and even our collection of Smurfs as they follow the trail which also takes them into the special Campbell Bluebird exhibition which tells the story of the speed kings Sir Malcolm and Donald Campbell.”

The Lakeland Motor Museum Quiz is designed to appeal to youngsters of all age ranges – with easier “A” questions for the youngest and “B” questions which require extra thinking or reading.

Copies of the quiz are available free of charge at the museum reception but parents and carers of children can also download a blank copy before their visit from the Lakeland Motor Museum’s website.

The museum, housed in a converted mill in the heart of the Lake District at Backbarrow, has a collection of over 30,000 exhibits tracing the development of road transport throughout the twentieth century.
