I really enjoyed visiting this museum. So many cars, motorcycles, cycles and other exhibits it's easy to pass the time. Well laid out and reasonably priced. The Campbell exhibition was very good and I enjoyed the exhibit about the old industry (gunpowder) in Backbarrow. Great to see past motors I remember or have driven (from me I loved seeing the Opel Manta) as I owned one in the 1980's.I thought the cooperation of nearby attractions was a very good idea. My party bought a combined ticket and went on the Windermere cruise to Bowness. I could have also bought a combined ticket to the railway as well, but not sure if we could find the time! "

Most of the museums I've visited have been silent and slightly intimating places but this one is very different. Its vibrant, relaxed, welcoming and friendly. If anything the attraction is underselling what it has to offer by calling itself a Motor Museum. It’s so much more with lots of interesting stories and exhibits that bring back fond memories. The quiz provided a fun challenge for the children to seek, find and record their findings and they were rewarded with a souvenir medallion. The gift shop had a good range of games and puzzles to keep the young ones occupied and café serves scones to die for!"

  • Well worth the visit. An amazing range of cars and motorbikes. My husband, a biker, was bowled over by the incredible range of motorbikes. Excellent Donald Campbell exhibition too. Cafe Amigo sold the most gorgeous brownies too! Close to the steam railway and you can get a joint ticket.

We read about the museum from local advertising and we just had to give it a visit. A visit well worth while. So much to see and all very interesting. So much time and effort had been put into. We would recommend that's its well worth a visit.

  • If you're interested in cars and accessories from a bygone age this is the place to visit. Of interest to all ages, and there's also a great souvenir shop and a fabulous cafe. If the weather's fine you can eat outside by the river. All told it's well worth it.
